What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
If you’re putting something together, do you read the manual beforehand?
When you need emotional support and guidance, do you call a friend or family member?
What about those situations that come out of nowhere, is your first response to pray and ask for guidance? Or do you pick up your nearest device and search google for what you should do next?
I know for me, it depends on the situation. Sometimes I check google. Other times I pray and wait it out or call my mom for advice.

Seeking wisdom requires work on our part. First, we must acknowledge that we don't have all the answers, then ask God for direction! Although it seems pretty simple, Godly wisdom may seem far away, hidden, or nonexistent in the most uncertain and unforeseen circumstances. But I would like to encourage you that it is always there! I believe seeking Godly wisdom means searching for God’s perspective on a matter. Once we ask for it, we have to believe it's there and allow God to reveal his heart; however, He may choose!
In addition to receiving direction, the Bible tells us we will have many other benefits as we search for wisdom. Let’s take a sneak peek at some of them:
Proverbs 3:13-14
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding. For the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.
Proverbs 24:5-6
A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, for by wise guidance you can wage war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory.
Ecclesiastes 8:1
Who is like the wise? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.
Proverbs 2:6-8
For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.
James 3:17
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Matthew 7:24-27
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.
These scriptures are reminders that the wisdom of God provides us with the security and guidance necessary to face life’s ebbs & flows. There are many uncertainties in the world, and sometimes our search for answers can leave us feeling empty and incomplete. We must be careful not to allow the need for answers distract us from the source of every answer, which is Jesus.
Jeremiah 33:1-3 reminds us of this, and is what I call the anthem of Godly wisdom:
"Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still confined in the court of the guard, saying, "Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it - the LORD is His name, Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden] which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish."
As you go throughout this week, remember the Lord sees and knows ALL, and He has promised that as we call out to Him, He will show us great and unsearchable things...in every situation!
I love this! Every scripture mentioned in this was for me today! Thank you for sharing
As I read this I sense such love. The part about wanting answers more than Him is real. I had to lay down my questions because they kept multiplying and taking my peace. God told me to lay them down , I did and He gave me answers. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
thank you for the truth submerged and served with so much love!
Wisdom! He is the only wise God!!
